Chelating Pyridine Catalyst

Chelating Pyridine Catalyst1
- CAS#: [801219-49-8]
- FW: 598
- Color: Green
- Initiation temperature: >60 °C

Process Strengths Weaknesses
CM   -Requires elevated temperatures for initiation
ROMP -Latent initiator allows for ease of handling of polymer resin prior to initiation

This catalyst is a latent initiator that possesses the high activity of Grubbs 2nd generation-type catalysts once initiated. It was initially developed for industrial ROMP applications where longer monomer/catalyst resin handling times are desired. However, its latency could also prove useful in other applications. If you’re looking for slow initiation or long pot life, this could be the way to go.

CM – Cross Metathesis
ROMP – Ring Opening Metathesis Polymerization
